* How do you turn a stigmatized medical device into an aspirational product? This project, sponsored by industry-leader ResMed, answers that question by targeting elite athletes to shift the narrative from treatment to performance. The resulting design IP was ultimately purchased by ResMed.

We spend nearly a third of our lives sleeping, but for millions, a common disorder called sleep apnea turns this valuable rest into a nightly struggle. Instead of recharging, they are constantly woken up by their own body gasping for breath, turning what should be peaceful rest into an exhausting nightmare.
However, solving this is no easy task, especially when the solution is a heavy, uncomfortable mask that makes it even harder to fall asleep.

The challenges aren't just physical. Wearing a CPAP mask creates a deep psychological stigma, turning a medical necessity into a source of shame and inconvenience that prevents consistent nightly use.
Is the stigma mentality we are redesigning. The challenge is to transform a device that feels like a burden into a positive part of a user's life.
The core strategy is to shift the narrative from *medical treatment* to *performance optimization*. And who better to anchor this new story than professional athletes?
HYPER AIR isn't treatment; it's your new weapon for recovery. A 3D-scanned, custom-fit system engineered to optimize every second of sleep, fueling you with the energy to dominate your day and unlock peak performance.
But since athletes are regularly away from home when they dont use their cpap, their naps are not always giving them the recovery boost that they need. Consistency is hard when you’re not home.
